It’s been a minute and I’ve been a busy little bee, but I haven’t forgotten that I promised a follow up to my first article all about personal branding titled ‘Why Personal Branding Starts With You’.

In that article I shared a few nuggets about my journey to personal branding, and how I discovered that it’s exactly that “personal” nobody is going to do it for you, it’s a work that only you can do, so get started, if you’re reading this article, you’re definitely on the right track.

In this article I want to focus on “The 4 Benefits Of Personal Branding”.

One of the biggest reason personal branding is a thing, is because it gives you:

  1. “Increased Visibility” Not only for your business, placing your products and services on display, but for you as the person. Increased Visibility helps to amplify your voice, establishes you as a thought leader in your field and helps with attracting opportunities and recognition – this is awesome to not only gain credibility, but also make extra money when things in your business could be going a bit slow, you can leverage opportunity off of your personal brand.
  2. Differentiation and Attraction Personal branding also helps to differentiate you from others and attract the right potential clients and partners to you. This helps you to stand out and also helps you to ‘niche down’ so you’re being selected based on what you put out there as your expertise e.g: If part of your personal branding has to do with fitness and you put that out there, those are the clients that you will attract.
  3. Combating Bias As a woman in business or corporate, personal branding will also help to combat bias. We know that many industries can be filled with stereotypes and narratives that don’t necessarily favour women, so instead of waiting to be selected by others, you are in charge of your narrative and create the opportunity for yourself.
  4. Building Credibility and Trust Last but not least, personal branding helps to build credibility and trust with your audience. You establish yourself as an authority as well as a reliable expert and figure in the field. You might be an expert and very knowledgeable, but because you haven’t packaged yourself in that way, nobody knows.
